Lauren Head, Co-Founder, Designer
Lauren Head has a BA in studio art, over 29 years of experience in art education and is the founder and director of the Gould Academy Blacksmithing program.
She has attended numerous workshops at institutions including: Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Penland School of Crafts, Center for Creative Imaging, The Carving and Sculpture Center and Peters Valley Craft Center. Lauren has been responsible for coordinating workshops with visiting artists to support the art curriculum and the Sophomore Four Point Program. Lauren has served as Department Head and currently teaches: Blacksmithing, Metal Design, Sculpture, and Design.
Along with being an art educator, Lauren is a former member of the United States Telemark Ski Team and a National Champion in Telemark GS. Currently she is the head coach of the alpine ski racing development program and is a level 3 nationally certified coach. Lauren also serves as head coach of the Women’s Tennis program.
When Lauren isn’t teaching or working in the studio she can be found spending time with her family; husband Robert Baribeau and son Alexander, climbing mountains, skiing, tending chickens and participating in activities in the outdoors. Lauren is a long time member of the Mohasco Arts Council Board of Directors helping to support arts education and community arts.
